Cookie Policy

1. What is a cookie?

Last updated: 15 May 2026

This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and comparable storage technologies we use on our website https://www.vrrw.online and in the embedded browser of the Minecraft mod "Intelligent Villagers / VR Realistic Worlds", for what purposes we use them, and how you can control their use.

This policy supplements our Privacy Policy (https://www.vrrw.online/privacypolicy) and our Terms of Use (https://www.vrrw.online/agb).

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file of letters and numbers that is downloaded to your end device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit certain websites. Cookies allow a website to recognise your device and, for example, remember settings or login status. In addition to classic HTTP cookies, comparable technologies such as Local Storage, Session Storage and web beacons are also considered "cookies" for the purposes of this policy.

2. Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies and comparable technologies for various purposes, in particular:

  1. to ensure the basic functionality of the website and of the
  2. mod's embedded browser;

  3. for security and to prevent misuse;
  4. to provide selected services (e.g. shopping cart, login,
  5. language preference);

  6. for anonymised analysis of the use of our website so we can
  7. improve it;

  8. to display, with your consent, third-party content such as
  9. embedded YouTube videos.

3. Legal bases

The legal basis for the use of strictly necessary cookies is 25 para. 2 no. 2 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR (contract initiation/performance) or Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating a functional website).

The legal basis for all consent-requiring cookies (see Sections 4.2 and 4.3) is exclusively your prior consent pursuant to 25 para. 1 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You give your consent via our cookie consent banner on your first visit to the website. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by opening the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of our website and adjusting your selection. The lawfulness of any processing carried out on the basis of consent up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.

4. Our three cookie categories

Our cookie banner groups all cookies used into three categories. You can enable or disable the consent-requiring categories independently of each other.

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are strictly required for the operation of our website and the mod's embedded browser. Without them, basic functions such as login, shopping cart, checkout or recording your cookie consent preferences cannot be provided. These cookies are set without your consent; you can only reject them through corresponding browser settings, which may, however, limit functionality.

Typical purposes:

  • session identifier (after login, cart identification);
  • storage of the chosen cookie consent status;
  • load balancing and security (protection against CSRF attacks);
  • website language preference (if multilingual);
  • contents of the shopping cart;
  • authentication tokens for the login session.

Retention period: these cookies are either session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies with a lifetime matched to the respective function (typically 30 days to 12 months).

Legal basis: 25 para. 2 no. 2 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) or lit. f) GDPR.

4.2 Functional cookies (consent required)

Functional cookies improve the convenience of using our website but are technically not strictly necessary. They are only set if you have explicitly enabled this category in the consent banner.

Typical purposes:

  • storing personal display preferences (e.g. dark mode, preferred
  • layout);

  • remembering the most recently viewed product;
  • persisting profile-chosen settings across sessions;
  • embedding interactive content (e.g. chat widgets) where these do
  • not fall into the analytics/marketing category.

Retention period: typically 30 days to 12 months.

Legal basis: 25 para. 1 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR (your consent).

4.3 Statistics and marketing cookies (consent required)

These cookies allow us and our third-party providers to statistically evaluate the use of our website, measure the reach of individual content, and display embedded third-party content (in particular YouTube videos). They are only set if you have explicitly enabled this category in the consent banner.

Typical purposes and providers:

  • Hosting-provider web analytics (Wix.com Ltd., Israel — our
  • backend provider; see Privacy Policy III.L): time, location and frequency of website visits, click paths and aggregate reach, for anonymised analysis, optimisation and the economic operation of our offering.

  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland; with
  • processing also in the USA by Google LLC): statistical evaluation of website use, measurement of the effectiveness of marketing activities, aggregate demographic characteristics. We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation active. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

  • Embedded YouTube videos (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland):
  • when you play a YouTube video embedded on our website, data is transmitted to YouTube (IP address, date/time, page visited, possibly DoubleClick data). We use the extended privacy mode ("youtube-nocookie"), so YouTube only transmits data when you actively start a video.

Retention period: Google Analytics stores data for up to 14 months; YouTube and Wix retention periods vary by cookie.

Legal basis: 25 para. 1 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR (your consent). These cookies are not set without your consent.

5. Cookies inside the mod (embedded browser)

The mod contains an embedded Chromium-based browser component ("MCEF"). This browser is only opened when you actively invoke a feature that requires web content (e.g. the Wix login page, the community hub, the Kinetic Hosting affiliate link, or OGAds advertising offers).

The embedded browser behaves like a regular browser with regard to cookies: when a page is loaded, its cookies (including third-party cookies) can be stored locally on your computer. The embedded browser's cookies are stored in a dedicated subfolder of your Minecraft instance directory and are strictly separated from the cookies of your regular system browser.

If you wish to delete the cookies stored by the mod browser, you can either reset the mod's browser cache via the functions offered in the mod or (on request) manually remove the relevant subfolder of your Minecraft installation. See the Privacy Policy, Section II ("Concrete deletion paths"), for details.

Important: while you are actively playing in a world, the mod does not load any web pages and does not set any cookies — a technical gate ("Gameplay Network Gate") prevents this. See the Privacy Policy, Section III.I.0.

6. Third-party cookies

Some of the cookies mentioned in Sections 4.2, 4.3 and 5 are set not by us but by third-party providers. We have no influence over the specific content and lifetime of such third-party cookies. The relevant privacy policies of the third parties are:

  • Wix (Wix.com Ltd., Israel):
  • https://www.wix.com/about/privacy

  • Google / YouTube / Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited,
  • Ireland; Google LLC, USA): https://policies.google.com/privacy

  • Discord (Discord Netherlands B.V., Netherlands / Discord Inc.,
  • USA) — only relevant if you visit our Discord server: https://discord.com/privacy

  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram) (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited,
  • Ireland / Meta Platforms, Inc., USA) — only relevant if you click a link to one of our Facebook / Instagram profiles and visit the respective platform: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy and https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy

  • X (formerly Twitter) (Twitter International Unlimited Company,
  • Ireland / X Corp., USA) — only relevant if you click a link to our X profile and visit the platform: https://x.com/en/privacy

  • OGAds (OGAds, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 1212,
  • Chicago, IL 60654, USA) and its respective advertising partners — only relevant if you actively open an offer in the rewards view of the mod or on the corresponding subpage of the website. Note: OGAds offers are intended exclusively for users aged 18 or older. Privacy policy: https://ogads.com/privacy-policy. For the specific processing, see our Privacy Policy, Section III.J.

  • PayPal (PayPal (Europe) S.à.r.l. & Cie. S.C.A., Luxembourg) —
  • only relevant if you pay for an order via PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/de/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full

7. Managing, deleting and disabling cookies

7.1 Via our consent banner (website)

You can adjust or fully withdraw your consent for functional, statistics and marketing cookies at any time via our cookie consent banner. To do so, please open the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of our website.

7.1a In-game consent dialog for the OGAds offer wall (mod)

The Minecraft mod has its own consent dialog specifically for the OGAds area, which is functionally equivalent to a cookie banner. It appears once, immediately before the OGAds offer wall or any of its embedded partner pages is loaded for the first time, and informs you in particular about the third-party cookies, web beacons and tracking pixels that OGAds and its advertising partners will set when those pages are opened, as well as about the primary data processing in the United States without an adequacy decision for OGAds itself.

  • Rejecting is technically just as easy as accepting (same
  • click effort). If you reject, the offer wall is not loaded; no network requests are made to OGAds or partner servers.

  • Accepting stores a consent entry in our VRRW backend (only
  • the derived statement "consent given" together with timestamp, user agent and policy version — not the individual clicks).

  • Withdrawal: Once given, the tracking consent can be
  • withdrawn at any time from the Rewards card in the mod's profile section with a single click; withdrawal is as easy as granting consent (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR) and immediately blocks further offer wall access until a new consent is granted.

Note: cookies that have already been set by OGAds or its partners in the embedded browser can additionally be removed via the native mechanisms of the Minecraft client (clearing the CEF cache, reinstalling the mod).

7.2 Via your browser settings

You can also configure the acceptance of cookies directly in your browser, delete already-stored cookies, or restrict the acceptance of certain cookies. The steps required differ from browser to browser. You can find help here:

Please note that fully blocking cookies may limit the functionality of our website.

7.3 Opting out of Google Analytics specifically

Independently of the cookie consent, you can prevent data collection by Google Analytics via a browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

7.4 General information

You can also find general information about cookies and how to manage them at https://www.aboutcookies.org and https://www.allaboutcookies.org.

8. Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law or changes to our website and mod. The current version is always available on this page. In the case of material changes we will inform you in an appropriate manner.
